INTRODUCTION

Hatch sought the expertise of the Iomico team to develop a geo-tracking solution for users to track their bags worldwide, whether for business, vacation, or valuable items. The solution aims to seamlessly integrate into bags of any size, providing smart and traceable functionality.

BUSINESS OBJECTIVES

The objectives set for the project were to:

  • Develop a hardware device, mobile app, and web interface for geo-tracking bags.

  • Ensure the device's configurability via both web interface and mobile app.

  • Provide accurate positioning information and other useful real-time data for tracking luggage location.

BUSINESS PROBLEM/OPPORTUNITY

The need was to create a compact and versatile geo-tracking solution that empowers users to monitor the location of their bags globally.

APPROACH

Hatch's solution comprises three main components:

  • Hardware Device: Contains GNSS module (GPS, Galileo, GLONASS, BeiDou), Bluetooth 5.0, and internet connection via Wi-Fi or 2G/3G module for standalone operation.

  • Mobile App: Allows users to activate flight mode before traveling, automatically turning off and on upon take-off and landing. Facilitates data transfer for registration, over-the-air updates, and integration with device firmware.

  • Web Interface: Provides specific functionality for clients, granting access to check device status and perform necessary actions.
